Mahabali Steel is one of the pioneer stockiest and dealer of Alloy 317 Sheets and Plates, Coils , which provides improved resistance relative in strongly corrosive environments containing sulphurous media, chlorides, and other halides. The high levels of these elements assure the alloy has superior chloride pitting and general corrosion resistance to the conventional grades.
Stainless Steel 317 sheets offered by Mahabali Steel are carbon corrosion resistant austenitic chromium – nickel - molybdenum stainless steel. The carbon content enables it to be welded without inter - granular corrosion resulting from chromium carbide precipitation enabling it to be used in the as - welded condition. Stainless Steel 317 plates offered by Mahabali Steel are non - magnetic in the annealed condition. With the addition of nitrogen as a strengthening agent, the alloy can be dual certified.
Stainless Steel 317 coils can be easily welded and processed by standard shop fabrication practices. In general, austenitic stainless steels are subject to chloride stress corrosion cracking in halide service. Although SS 317 sheets offered by Mahabali Steel is somewhat more resistant to stress corrosion cracking than other grades of stainless steels, because of its higher molybdenum content, it is still susceptible.
It cannot be hardened by heat treatment; however the material will harden due to cold working. The higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen content enhance the ability of SS 317 coils to resist pitting and crevice corrosion in the presence of chlorides and other halides.
